So I get it— starting your own home-based online business can be a bit daunting, to say the least.
And while there’s much to do, rest assured that it IS possible and probable for you to succeed at it if you keep trying and keep your mind active and positive.
But what do you do when you feel yourself getting off-track, especially in the beginning?…
For me, it has been all too easy to let distractions pull me away because that means that my ideas (meaning my content for my product) are still only "my ideas," meaning that if I don't actually share them, they can't be criticized, belittled, or worse, dismissed.
But I had to come to the realization that while that may seem noble and understandable on its face, it's actually the exact opposite— it's short-sided and selfish.
I believe that we are here on this earth to learn how to get along with each other and to serve one another. And do we really want to "put a wrench" in that plan? Plus, how tragic would it be if we went to our graves without sharing with others what has been uniquely given to each of us to discover. When you think about it, it's such an amazing tapestry that we can help to weave... if we just get off our duff! 😉 (And I'm talking about me here, too!)
Something that has helped me when it's time to sit down and "bang the keys" is to have an empty jar on my desk. (Any container will do— I just like a jar because it has a lid.) And next to the jar is a small notebook and some small scraps of paper.
When I get a distracting thought that tries to derail me, but is still something that does need to get done at some point, but can wait for the moment, I write it down in my notebook so my mind can set it aside for the time being.
And when I get a negative thought, I write that thought down on a scrap piece of paper, fold it up, shove it in the jar and "put a lid on it." I let it go and tell myself that I can’t do anything about it right now because I’ve got stuff to do!
In reality, what I end up doing is taking the slips from the jar, still folded up, and run them through my paper shredder— very therapeutic! 🙂
Anyway, I hope this has been helpful...
I guess what I'm trying to say is this— I believe that each of us has been given unique experiences that have melded into beautiful ideas, plans, designs, frameworks, methods, etc. that, in my opinion, are meant to be shared because they grow both the giver and the recipient.
So I hope that you'll share your unique experiences and be the entrepreneur that you are destined to be— I look forward to hearing about your success!
Steve Jobs once said:
"Here's to the Crazy Ones.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They’re not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.
But the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.
Because they change things. They push the human race forward.
And while some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
From one round peg to another-- keep the faith and keep up the fight, for that is what is truly noble!
Onward and Upward...
